This bronze sculpture is based on the fairy tale “Bremen Town Musicians” by the German Brothers Grimm. It consists of donkey, dog, cat and rooster, they stacked on top of each other, smaller than the last one. Some notable features of this work are the minimalist expression of the hump of a cat and the eyes of a character.

“Bremen Town Musicians” is a popular fairy tale retrieved and recorded by the Brothers Grimm. It was first published in Grimms’ Fairy Tales in 1819. It tells the story of four aging domestic animals that were ignored and abused by their former owners after hard work throughout their lives. Each of these animals is convinced by the donkey to go to Bremen and start a new life as musicians.
Eventually, they decided to run away and become city musicians in Bremen. Contrary to the title of the story, these characters never arrived in Bremen as they successfully deceived and scared away a group of robbers, captured their loot, and then moved into their house.
