Stainless steel is a product material that we can often see in our daily lives, from small to stainless steel tableware, to stainless steel sculptures, stainless steel has a very wide range of applications. So what exactly is stainless steel? And what categories can it be divided into? How about the sculptures made of it? How to choose them? This article will help solve some of your doubts about stainless steel sculpture.

In modern society, the pursuit of efficiency, simplicity and comfort has become a trend. And stainless steel multi-functional and purpose usage have been fully recognized by the people. It is playing an increasingly important role in real life.

What is stainless steel?

In terms of chemical concepts, stainless steel is a rust-resistant, corrosion-resistant iron alloy. Its corrosion resistance comes mainly from the 11% chromium it contains. Chromium forms a passive film that protects the material and heals itself in the presence of oxygen. It also contains elements such as carbon, other non-metals and metals to obtain other desired properties.

In terms of properties, stainless steel has good ductility and can be rolled into various shapes and thicknesses, like thin plates, bars, tubes, wires, etc. These can be used in cookware, tableware, medical instruments, construction materials, and decorative sculptures. Its application is very common in life.

The term “stainless steel” does not simply refer to one type of stainless steel, but indicates more than one hundred types of stainless steel, each of which has been developed to perform well in its specific application.

What are the types of stainless steel?

There are five main types of stainless steel. They are classified according to their crystal structure: austenitic, ferrite, martensitic, duplex and precipitation hardening.

Understand Stainless Steel Sculptures

Among them, austenitic stainless steel accounts for the largest proportion and is also the most common type of stainless steel we use. This class of stainless steel has enough nickel or manganese added to it to guarantee that it maintains the same result at all temperatures from low temperature to the melting point. Simply put, it has good resistance to high temperatures.

Austenitic stainless steel can be further divided into 200 series and 300 series.

The 200 series includes 201 and 202, which are less resistant to corrosion because they contain less nickel.

The 300 series has our most common 304 and 316 stainless steel.

In daily life, the use of stainless steel for medical instruments, dietary tableware, construction materials, sculptures, etc. People need to choose suitable stainless steel materials according to different requirements.

Understand Stainless Steel Sculptures

Stainless steel sculptures made of stainless steel have been very popular in recent years. Its various colors and styles are loved by different groups. Many people use stainless steel statues to decorate parks, squares, their own yards, gardens and other places, forming a beautiful landscape. So why are we all sought after stainless steel sculpture? It needs to speak of its several advantages.

Stainless steel sculpture is corrosion-resistant, so to speak, is not easy to be corroded, which is loved by people. Because it will be stored for a long time, people do not need to pay too much attention to cleaning and protection. Stainless steel itself heat and temperature resistance, not easy to deformation, withstand gas, neat, water and other substances, so in many urban sculptures, stainless steel sculpture accounted for the majority.

The solidity and stability of the sculpture statue are indispensable for every kind of sculpture material. Just like the bronze we often see, its consolidation can be felt at a glance. But the consolidation of stainless steel sculpture raw materials is no less than bronze.

The diversity of stainless steel sculpture. The appearance of stainless steel sculpture can have a variety of changes, have the original color of stainless steel whitening. Stainless steel exterior bright mirror glass and surface coloring treatment, to achieve a better display of the overall image of the sculpture. Whether original or post-production, stainless steel sculpture can satisfy you.

The beauty of the sculpture. Stainless steel raw material itself has a strong gloss, so the stainless steel sculpture is also a good artwork. And its original silver color has a strong sense of elegance, whether placed in the park, square, or street, it will become a beautiful landscape.

Stainless steel sculpture is cost-effective. No matter what kind of products are selected, we will love the cost-effective products. Stainless steel sculpture is a cost-effective modern sculpture. Its consolidation, stability, corrosion resistance and long storage time are enough to make people love it. Compared with bronze, stainless steel sculpture is also cheaper, so stainless steel sculpture is a good choice for modern sculpture.

The differences between stainless steel sculpture 316 and 304

From the name, we can also easily know the differences between them is material. So what is the difference between 304 and 316 stainless steel?

A Grade

304 and 316 respective grades are as follows:
304 is 06Cr19Ni10,
316 is 0Cr17Ni12Mo2.

B Corrosion resistance

304 stainless steel contains about 18% of chromium, more than 8% of nickel. And 316 stainless steel on this basis, but also increased by 2% of the element of molybdenum. So its corrosion resistance is more superior.
Therefore, it can be said that 316 stainless steel is 304 stainless steel in the resistance to pitting corrosion on the stainless steel produced by adding some more molybdenum. In various types of water (distilled water, drinking water, river water, boiler water, etc.), 304 stainless steel and 316 stainless steel corrosion resistance is almost the same, but when the medium is very high chloride ion content, 316 stainless steel is more suitable.

C Price

Due to the addition of molybdenum and nickel elements in 316, 316 stainless steel is more expensive than 304 stainless steel.

How to choose the corresponding stainless steel sculptures?

Stainless steel is usually chosen because of its corrosion resistance and its own luster. But you must consider the amount and type of corrosion resistance required. Different grades have different corrosion resistance. So how do we pick the right stainless steel sculpture?

Actually, there is no difference in appearance between the two different types of stainless steel, so it is more important to focus on its performance. For example, when you pay more attention to corrosion resistance, you can choose 316. But if you focused on the cost, then 304 is a very good choice. In addition, if you have enough budget and the pursuit of high quality, then you could choose 316.

To wrap up

I hope these points above will help you better understand stainless steel sculpture. When choosing and purchasing such products in the future, you could choose the best you want.
