This newly completed corten steel book sculpture transforms a familiar symbol of knowledge into a striking piece of contemporary public art. Made from multiple books arranged in an irregular stack, the sculpture combines carefully shaped covers, layered page details, and dramatically opened books to create a strong sense of movement.
These books are not formed into straight, vertical columns, but rather tilted and rotated in different directions. The lower section provides visual weight and stability, while the open books at the top appear to unfold upward. This dynamic composition gives the sculpture a sense of imagination and discovery—as though ideas are rising from the pages.
A Detailed Form of Stacked Books
Although the design is contemporary, the sculpture retains many recognizable details of real books. Different book thicknesses, extended covers, curved spines, layered page edges, and partially opened pages give every level a distinct shape.
Our metal artisans individually formed and assembled these components to achieve a convincing balance between realism and abstraction. The carefully arranged books also create changing shadows throughout the day, making the sculpture look different when viewed from various angles.
The book form can represent:
-
Knowledge and education
-
Creativity and imagination
-
Cultural inheritance
-
Personal growth
-
The connection between different generations
These meanings make the sculpture especially suitable for educational and cultural environments.

Designed for Outdoor Environments
Corten steel is valued for its ability to form a dense, protective weathered surface under suitable atmospheric conditions. This surface helps slow further corrosion while giving the sculpture its characteristic earthy appearance.
The material also works naturally with stone, concrete, brick, wood, grass, and surrounding plants. Whether installed in a modern architectural plaza or a landscaped garden, the warm steel tones can soften the space while still creating a distinctive focal point.
For each project, we can adjust the internal structure, steel thickness, base, and anchoring method according to the sculpture’s dimensions and intended installation environment.

From Steel Plates to a Finished Sculpture
The production photographs show this book sculpture during fabrication in our factory. Before receiving its final weathered finish, each book section was cut, shaped, welded, and assembled by our metalworking team.
The proportions, angles, and balance of the stacked composition were checked throughout production. Particular attention was given to the open pages and book edges, as these details create the sculpture’s recognizable form and dynamic silhouette.
After the main structure was completed, the surface underwent a controlled treatment process to produce the warm and relatively uniform appearance shown in the finished photographs.
