YouFine Art Sculpture Factory is a professional sculpture supplier specializing in custom metal sculptures, especially large stainless steel sculptures for outdoor projects. We support custom designs in different styles, sizes, and finishes for public spaces, commercial landscapes, hotels, plazas, and landmark art installations.

Today, we would like to share one of our impressive custom projects: the Stainless Steel Cascade of Spheres Sculptures, a large outdoor sculpture installed in Abu Dhabi, Middle East. With a total height of 7.5 meters, this project fully demonstrates our experience in producing oversized stainless steel sculptures with accurate proportions, refined craftsmanship, and reliable structural solutions.

Project Overview

This project is a custom-made Stainless Steel Cascade of Spheres Sculptures created for an outdoor installation in Abu Dhabi. The sculpture reaches 7.5 meters in height, making it a striking landmark artwork with a powerful modern visual effect.

The entire sculpture was made of 304 stainless steel and completed through hand forging, welding, and polishing. The total production time was two months. Because of its complex shape and large size, this project required careful planning at every stage, from model confirmation to segmented fabrication and factory trial assembly.

Project Information

Project Name: Stainless Steel Cascade of Spheres Sculptures

About the Sculpture Design:

The Stainless Steel Cascade of Spheres Sculptures combines dynamic flowing forms with spherical elements, creating a strong sense of movement and modern artistic expression. The lower part resembles splashing waves, while the upper section features large sphere forms that give the sculpture a futuristic and elegant character.

This combination of curves, motion, and reflective metal surface creates an eye-catching visual effect. In an outdoor environment, the polished stainless steel reflects sunlight and surrounding architecture, allowing the sculpture to appear vivid and constantly changing from different viewing angles.

As a large modern metal sculpture, this piece is highly suitable for upscale public spaces, city landmarks, hotel landscapes, and commercial outdoor settings.

Challenges of This Large Stainless Steel Sculpture Project

Large outdoor stainless steel sculptures require much more than artistic design. They also demand accurate engineering, stable structure, fine surface treatment, and practical transportation solutions.

For this Abu Dhabi project, there were several key challenges:

The sculpture’s height reached 7.5 meters, so the proportions had to be carefully controlled.

The design included both flowing wave-like forms and large spherical elements, requiring precise shaping and smooth transitions.

The sculpture needed to maintain a strong visual impact while also ensuring structural safety.

Because of the large size, production, packaging, shipping, and installation all required a well-planned solution.

To ensure the final sculpture would match the design perfectly, YouFine adopted a rigorous production process before entering the final stainless steel fabrication stage.

1:1 Foam Model Before Production

One of the most important steps in this project was the creation of a full-scale 1:1 foam model before the formal metal fabrication began.

The foam model was made according to the exact design and dimensions of the final sculpture. This allowed our team to check the sculpture’s:

overall size,

proportions,

shape transitions,

structural layout,

and artistic details.

For large sculptures, a full-size foam model is extremely valuable. It helps us identify any potential issues in advance and ensures that the final stainless steel sculpture will faithfully reflect the original concept. This step also gives better control over details that may be difficult to judge only from drawings or digital renderings.

Hand Forging and Fabrication Process

After confirming the foam model, we moved into the formal fabrication stage. The sculpture was produced using 304 stainless steel, a material widely used for outdoor sculptures because of its strength, durability, and modern appearance.

The main production process included:

stainless steel sheet preparation,

hand forging and shaping,

skilled welding,

structural reinforcement,

surface refinement,

and manual polishing.

Separate Fabrication for the Base Wave and Large Sphere Sections

Due to the large size of the sculpture, we adopted a segmented fabrication method. This is a professional and practical solution often used for oversized custom metal sculptures.

In this project, the sculpture was mainly divided into separate sections, especially:

the base wave part,

and the large sphere section.

These parts were forged separately before final assembly. This method offered several important advantages:

  1. Better Control of Details

Separate fabrication allowed us to focus on the accuracy and quality of each major section.

  1. Easier Structural Handling

Large sculptures are difficult to process as a single piece. Dividing the sculpture into sections helped us manage the fabrication and reinforcement more efficiently.

  1. Safer Transportation

Segmented production is more suitable for export shipping, especially for overseas large sculpture projects.

  1. More Convenient Installation

Separate sections can be assembled more effectively on site, improving installation efficiency and safety.

For large stainless steel sculptures, split fabrication is often essential for balancing artistic effect, structural reliability, and logistical practicality.

Factory Trial Installation Before Shipping:

Before shipment, we carried out a trial installation in our factory. This is a very important quality control step for large custom sculptures.

The purpose of the trial installation was to:

Check whether each section matched correctly,

confirm the connection points and overall structural stability,

Inspect the visual integrity of the completed sculpture

and reduce potential risks during the final on-site installation.

Because this sculpture was fabricated in separate sections, factory pre-assembly was especially important. It allowed us to ensure that the base wave part and the large sphere part could be assembled smoothly and accurately.

After the trial installation was completed, the overall result was truly stunning. The sculpture showed strong visual impact, elegant curves, and excellent proportional balance. This also gave us and the client greater confidence before delivery.
