In November 2025, our factory was commissioned by the renowned Kazakhstani sculptor Bolat Muhamediev. Working in close collaboration with Mr. Muhamediev, our team of artisans cast a bronze sculpture of the famous Dior model, Alla Ilchun. Standing 3.1 meters tall, this custom-made figure sculpture has garnered acclaim from numerous artists, as well as from the French scholar Berlin Ilichev.

Project Introduction

A major highlight of this project lies in the exceptionally harmonious and smooth collaboration between our team of artists and Bolat Muhamediev, which ultimately culminated in the creation of *The Dior Goddess*—a bronze sculpture of immense beauty and grandeur. Standing at an impressive height of 310 centimeters, the sculpture has now been successfully unveiled in Almaty, Kazakhstan. Sculptor Bolat Muhamediev and French scholar Berlin Ilichev jointly attended the ribbon-cutting ceremony marking the completion of the artwork.

The creation of this sculpture involved a rigorous, multi-stage refinement process—including modifyings to the clay model and optimization of the wax mold. Our clay model artists, renowned for their expertise in sculpting figurative details, ensured that every element—from musculature and attire to accessories and tonal nuances—was rendered with the utmost precision and bespoke craftsmanship. The bronze sculpture was cast using the traditional lost-wax method and finished with a custom patina, bearing the artist’s authentic signature. Subsequently, our factory’s logistics department arranged for the sculpture’s transport via a dedicated Central Asian shipping route, ensuring its safe and pristine arrival at its final destination.

Project Personnel Profiles

The realization of this project would not have been possible without three pivotal figures. First is Berlin Ilichev, the architect of the “Bridge of Eurasian Culture,” whose full financial sponsorship drove the entire initiative forward. Next is Bolat Muhamediev—a renowned Kazakhstani sculptor and artist—who designed, created, and personally oversaw the entire production process of the sculpture. Finally, there is the celebrated Dior model Alla Ilchun; as Dior’s “Goddess of the East,” she symbolizes the convergence of Eastern and Western aesthetics in the 20th century.

Alla Ilchun: Dior’s Oriental Muse—The Living Prototype of Sculpture

Biography

Alla Ilchun (1926–1989) was one of the most legendary house models in the history of 20th-century Parisian *haute couture*. With her distinctive Eurasian features, an aura of cool, aristocratic elegance, and a nearly sculptural stillness in her poses, she became Christian Dior’s most cherished muse during the brand’s golden age. She modeled countless classic Dior *haute couture* gowns, utilizing her exquisite expressive power to perfectly embody the mystique, nobility, and extraordinary—almost goddess-like—presence that the brand so highly championed.

It was precisely these qualities that earned her the prestigious title bestowed by the fashion world: “Dior’s Oriental Goddess.” As one of the first Asian faces to gain entry into the inner circle of Parisian *haute couture*, Alla Ilchun not only defined the elegant aesthetic of early Dior but also stood as a pivotal fashion icon, symbolizing the convergence and fusion of Eastern and Western aesthetics in the 20th century.

Sculpture Production Process: Bolat Muhamediev’s Multiple Factory Visits

Creation of the 310 cm Clay Model

On January 29, 2026, YouFine had the distinct honor of welcoming the renowned Kazakhstani artist and sculptor Bolat Muhamediev—accompanied by the illustrator who created the “Oriental Goddess” image for Dior—to our foundry for an in-depth and meticulous refinement of the clay model.

As a distinguished multidisciplinary artist, Bolat Muhamediev possesses decades of extensive experience in the fields of sculpture and monumental art. For this project, he has invested his profound artistic insight and rigorous aesthetic standards.

During this week-long collaborative process, the artists worked closely with YouFine’s sculpting team to execute a painstaking process of modification and refinement on the existing clay model.

Every detail—from facial expressions and the flow of drapery to anatomical proportions and surface textures—was repeatedly scrutinized and enhanced to ensure that the final work would possess a heightened sense of artistic realism and visual impact.

Finalization of the Clay Model

Departing from traditional bronze figure sculptures, the artist deliberately rendered the skin texture of the figure’s face with a rich, matte finish, thereby further accentuating the depth and layering of the details.

Refinement of the Wax Mold

On March 15, 2026, Bolat Muhamediev returned to the YouFine foundry—this time accompanied by his grandson—to oversee the wax mold refinement stage of the sculpture project. This phase constitutes a critical juncture in the bronze casting process, requiring precise corrections and adjustments to the work’s minute details prior to the final metal casting.

Throughout the inspection process, every wax model underwent meticulous examination and adjustment under the artist’s personal guidance, ensuring that every contour, texture, and artistic nuance faithfully reflects the artist’s original creative vision. Thanks to the close collaboration between Bolat Muhamediev (and his grandson) and YouFine’s experienced technical team, the entire wax model refinement process was completed smoothly and efficiently.

Welding and Polishing

Before officially proceeding to the surface coloring (patination) stage, the sculpture undergoes a rigorous process of welding and polishing. This ensures that the figure’s structural integrity and intricate details are rendered with absolute precision; every individual body part is subjected to strict scrutiny and verification to guarantee that the sculpture’s overall anatomy and contours are flawless.

Patina

Prior to applying color, we conduct a meticulous, element-by-element comparison against the previously approved color samples. From the specific hues of the clothing and the texture of the skin, to the necklaces, decorative accessories, and even the surface finish of the base, every single element is subjected to repeated discussion, comparison, and finalization.

This rigorous process ensures that the ultimate color presentation achieves a state of perfect harmony and unity with the intended artistic vision. Only after every minute color detail has been precisely established do the artisans at YouFine officially commence the surface coloring treatment of the sculpture.
