At YouFine, we made this large bronze horse head sculpture for a client who came to us with a reference for Artemis by Nic Fiddian-Green. From the large clay model to the finished green patina, our team brought the requested design into bronze at a length of 5 metres (approximately 16.4 feet).
With its long muzzle, expressive eye and bold, overlapping forms, this horse head has a strong presence. It suits customers looking for a substantial sculpture to give an open outdoor space a clear focal point.
The Details That Give This Horse Head Its Character
What draws us to this design is the balance between its broad, simple outline and the detail around the face. The raised brow frames the eye, while the curved cheek and extended muzzle give the head a distinctive profile. As you move around it, the layered forms reveal different lines and shadows.
For this commission, we finished the bronze in green, with lighter and darker tones across the surface. The color follows the contours of the face and neck, bringing out the sculpted forms without distracting from the horse’s expression.
Made in Our Workshop, from Clay to Bronze
Working at this scale means paying attention to both the overall proportions and the smaller features. Our artists shaped the clay model with the client’s reference in mind, including the long face, the contours around the eye, and the stepped forms along the cheek and neck.
The clay model below is from our workshop during this project. Together with the completed bronze photographs, it shows the work our team carried out for this Artemis replica. If you are considering a similar commission, we can share these project details as a starting point for discussing your requirements.
Choosing the Right Size for Your Outdoor Space
This completed piece is 5m long. If you like the design, we can discuss a size and display arrangement around your available space. We will specify the length, height and width separately, along with any base dimensions, so you can plan the full display.
For an open lawn, estate entrance or landscaped forecourt, we suggest considering the view as people approach. The extended muzzle needs space around it, and a clear background helps the profile stand out. A photograph of your proposed location is useful when discussing the position and proportions with us.

Talk to YouFine About Your Horse Head Sculpture
You can contact our factory with a reference image, your preferred size and photographs of the site. Tell us where the sculpture will be delivered and whether you already have a base in mind. We can then discuss the finish, display requirements and quotation with you.
For a large piece like this, it also helps to review delivery access and lifting space early. The foundation and fixing arrangements should be coordinated with your installer using the agreed sculpture and base dimensions.
If you are still choosing a style, take a look at our bronze horse sculptures. We also make the Still Water horse head design, with its long, lowered-head pose.
